💦KEEP KIDS SAFE AROUND THE POOL🇺🇸
July 3, 2026
Keep Kids Safe Around the Pool This Fourth of July🎆
Follow these pool safety tips from the Drowning Prevention Coalition of El Paso
🛟Assign a “Water Watcher”- Designate a responsible adult to actively supervise children in the pool at all times, no phones, no distractions. This role should only be handed off to another adult, never left unattended.
🛟 Do frequent headcounts-
Regular head counts help ensure every child is accounted for and allow adults to respond quickly if a child is missing or in distress.
🛟Use U.S. Coast Guard- approved life jackets-
Children who are not strong swimmers should wear a properly fitted life jacket. Adults should always stay within arm’s reach of inexperienced swimmers.
🛟Learn CPR- Parents and caregivers should learn CPR, keep a first aid kit nearby and have an emergency action plan in place.
It’s also important to teach children that the pool area is off-limits without an adult present. If a child goes missing, always check the pool first.
According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, 44 children have already lost their lives in Texas this year, and drowning remains a leading cause of accidental death among children younger than five.
A few simple safety measures can help ensure a fun and safe holiday weekend for everyone.☀️
